Purpose: to share some local MDPH surveillance findings on selected events associated with substance abuse, which can aid in developing and evaluating policies and prevention initiatives. As well as educationg the public on the types of drugs out there and what they do.

Data findings will include:- Magnitude and Trends in Fatal Poisonings/Overdoses and Agents Involved,
with comparisons to other injuries - Acute Care Hospital Visits Associated with Drug Abuse, Dependence and /or Poisoning/Overdose
- Comparisons among geographic regions and to relevant Healthy People 2010 benchmarks
